Hi
------------mkdir /backup
chown nick /backup/
With line on fstab left as:
/dev/hdb1 /backup ext3 defaults 1 2
Then created link on destop to /dev/hdb1/
This now gives HDB1 (formatted as ext3) on dektop, and opening device gives access to /backup ............

Re: NTFS to ext3 problems
Hi
I added line "/dev/hdb1 /backup ext3 defaults 1 2" after plugging in new hard drive, so you should delete /dev/hdb1
UUID=78ACA63BACA5F432 /media/hdb1 ntfs defaults,umask=007,gid=46 0 1 (I hope), But best make a back up of fstab just in case
I was a while ago and am on different system now.
