Bear in mind that this chat room is not always active and that most people who are connected aren't always looking at their chat clients. Ask a question your question and if you don't get an answer right away, just leave your xchat window open. Most IRC users launch Xchat-Gnome when they log in, let it run in the background, and give it a look now and then to see who's there and what's going on. If somebody answers you he/she will probably write your name in the answer.
