Bianca KDE Edition

The next release of Linux Mint will be Bianca KDE Edition. It will come as a DVD. Thunderbird, Firefox and Koffice will be the default mail reader, web browser and office suite. Other applications such as Scribus, Inkscape and Gimp were also added. The default KDE menu will be kickoff. The artwork should be based on Carlos's Zen-Green wallpaper.

No release schedule was announced but it was planned that a BETA version would be released prior to the stable release. The KDE Edition will be based on Bianca and use the Kubuntu repositories for Amarok 1.4.5, KDE 3.5.6 and Koffice 1.6.2. It should be the first Linux Mint release generated through the use of remastersys (Ada being previously home-made and other releases being generated through the use of reconstructor).

Cassandra

With Beryl ready to go gold, Xorg 7.2 making it easier to configure composite WM and Feisty Fawn Herd 5 including a 3D effects configuration tool, it looks like things are moving fast around us in regards to 3D effects.

Network manager was upgraded and included into Feisty. It should allow static IP configuration and work closely with the default network settings configuration tool. This will give more flexibility to network management in Cassandra than there is at the moment in Bianca.

Romeo

MintMenu 1.10 went gold and was ported to Bianca.

Remastersys was upgraded to version 1.2 in Romeo and it needs 3 positive feedbacks to make its way into the stable branch. Envy 0.8.2 needs 2.
