Re: Installing on Existing Ubuntu Installation
It is possible to change your repos to Mint and run a dist upgrade. I would recommend a new install, because something usually goes wrong when upgrading like that. Plus no one will want to help straighten out the mess if it does

Re: Installing on Existing Ubuntu Installation
The problem is that Mint 5 is not directly based on Hardy. If you done a minimal Hardy install and added Mint repos, you still wouldn't have Mint. You would wind up with a mix between them both without the stableness of Mint.

That solution is the only one available. There is no meta package, using dist upgrade will give you a blissful mix of Ubuntu and Mint, which isn't always a good thing. Mint is not Ubuntu, it just use the Ubuntu package base. If you want to install Mint you have to do what you have to do if you want Fedora running instead of Ubuntu; A fresh install.humaneasy wrote:Hi,

I'd love to have a way to patch Mint onto Ubuntu. It would make owning a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 very simple for me.
