DE coherence

Post by thelyn »

Hi!

I have a question regarding the coherence of the software into the main release of Linux Mint.
I used, in the years, both KDE and Gnome, and i like to use only QT applications on KDE and only GTK apps under Gnome. In Linux Mint i find QT applications (live Amarok) pre-installed. For the lovers of the DE coherence, isn't a good idea to use into the Main-KDE-XFCE releases different software?

Yes, is love for coherence but also more stability for the distro, i think.

Thanks for your answers and sorry for my poor english (I'm Italian)! ,-)

I get your point but it's rather "purist"
In Mint useful apps are included be they the one or the other kind
At the time the decision to include Amarok was made it was considered "better" than other similar applications (which is not the case any more)
I'm not bashing you but I think this attitude is bad for Linux, it's sectarian
It's another story that it can often be (frustratingly) hard to mix QT and GTK
