Wireless Connection Problems

Post by Bigmutha »

I just installed Linux Mint XFCE edition (Elyssa). It is my first experience with Linux, and I'm amazed. I love every bit of it, except the part where I can't connect to the internet. :\

I have a Linksys Instant Wireless PCI Card WMP11 V2.7. It works great on Windows, but I can't get anywhere on Mint. I have tried all the methods on the wiki and threads here. It just wont work.

I installed the Windows driver for it, ad it said "Hardware Present", but it doesn't show any networks in the Wifi program.

If anyone knows how to fix it, or what is wrong with it, that would be great.

Your Linksys card is a BCM4303 - bad luck - perhaps
This is a PCI card so it may be different from a card for a laptop
I have a HP 530 laptop with a bcm 4311 which I managed to get working without any problems using this topic in the Ubuntu forums
Note stage one is not needed in Mint
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiD ... ca757b2851
and it works from Cassandra to Elyssa and probably Felicia too
