HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
Hi!
I have an HP PSC1350 all-in-one-printer, that prints/scans/copies OK in Mint, and in Linux in general. However, it's built-in multicard-reader doesn't work in Mint; it does in openSUSE 11, though.
In Elyssa, when I first insert the card, the led flashes green for a few seconds (reading), then turn to amber (error) and stays. If I turn off and then back on the printer, the led flashes green then it becomes stable green (all OK); however, the device is not mounted, it's not possible to read it, and it's utterly useless.
In openSUSE, it's simple plug-and-play.
I googled a lot, but didn't find any clue. Could it be a kernel issue?

Unfortunately it couldI googled a lot, but didn't find any clue. Could it be a kernel issue?
Opensuse uses a newer kernel than Mint right now...
And as you've googled.....
I'll mark it as unsolved and come back to you - hopefully my internet won't go down again soon...
Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
Thanks for the dedication Husse!
Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
This is a hard nut - I get only 10 hits in Google for HP PSC1350 multicard-reader none relevant.....
Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
Yeah, I think I have no hope; I will boot on openSUSE to download my pictures (or buy a card reader)
Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
OK let's take another approach
When you are in Open suse make a lsusb
Hopefully you'll see the reader there but you may also see only one post for the entire unit

Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
Ooops... in the meantime, I installed Etch in another partition, and let it overwrite the GRUB in mbr; the result is, I'm no longer able to boot in openSUSE
I'll try to repair that and come back here

Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
Ok, here's an update...
No luck with my openSUSE partition
Anyway, I tried the PSC1350 with my notebook with Sidux and the card reader works flawlessly. The kernel there is 2.6.26-1.slh.3-sidux-686
The lsusb shows:

Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
It looks like a kernel problem and the printer appears only as one unit - ouch!
Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
Tried it, but no difference; it says "unable to mount the photocard on the device" (or something similar, in Italian).
Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
On the other hand, it also works flawlessly in Debian Lenny with kernel 2.6.25-2-amd64...

Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
Yeah - it seems to be a kernel issue.....
Why is it so difficult sometimes
But lets not forget that Vista has about the same amount of problems

Re: HP PSC1350 SD card reader not working
No big problem, I will wait until a 2.6.25 kernel update. Until then, I will boot into Debian to download my pictures. Thanx for the support!
