My Mint-5/MythTV system also quit playing Shoutcast streams. I can't pinpoint the exact time for this but I too also apply all updates when the padlock is shown open.

Seems it has to be a change to the way shoutcast delivers streams.
Earlier it wouldn't list the genres but would let you use search and play those streams.
I haven't tested this in a while maybe there will be an update to the plugin.
You should only use level 1 & 2 updates.
Level 3 updates should only be used if it fixes a bug you need to have fixed.
