GLaCiX - Artwork Brainstorming
OK!
Here are a few ideas that popped in to my head...
I associated GLaCiX with ice, snow and mountains and such of course, and then I wanted a little twist, so I made the A and the I in to lower case letters.
There were two reasons for this.
1. It made the text more like a mountain ridge in countour. (see below)
2. It makes the abbrevation "ai" stand out!
So finally, my ideas, now these are VERY rough sketches that needs refinement, but hopefully they will get my ideas across anyway.
The last two images are wallpaper ideas if you want to see how it looks on your desktop. (only widescreen format I'm afraid)
All the images are clickable and will lead you to a download page with a bigger image on it.
The font used is Eurasia.
Please comment until your keyboards blead!

Very nice work! I like how the word "GLaCiX" is inside the mountain outline on the first logo.
Re: GLaCiX - Artwork Brainstorming
I like the logo inside the mountain, but I also like the one made out of snow. These will look great on all sorts of winter-themed wallpapers.
Zwopper, this gives you plenty of opportunity to use your talents with some light-colored themes.

Zwopper, I like the last post with the lettering inside the mountains and the "Slick and Quick" tag line since Debian is supposed to be just that. The colour scheme for the background appeals to me as well. Nice brainstorming.

It would be fun if any of my fellow artists will jump in as well.

Dberg918 the Glacix artwork is excellent. I didn't know Inkscape could do work like that. Do you use GIMP at all?
Re: GLaCiX - Artwork Brainstorming
Anyone want to try making an ISOLINUX splash screen for the boot menu? It should probably have the logo on the bottom because the menu is on top. Anything else goes.

I'm fond of an all-lowercase style myself, but it's up to you.
Re: GLaCiX - Artwork Brainstorming
I like the second one by dberg918 . (glacix quick and slick) It looks cool and the catch phrase is good. Just my opinion.

Google is your friend!dberg918 wrote:I've been scouring the web a bit to see what the rules are for splash screens (colors, size, file extension and such), but I'm still not totally sure what they are. And I love Zwopper's GLaCiX in the mountains logo more (the best one is the one shown in the wallpaper example) :) dberg918's one is plain and unattractive to me.
